This ESC Humanitarian Aid volunteering team project in Lima, Peru is looking for dynamic, compassionate volunteers passionate about women’s empowerment, gender equality, education, and community development. Working alongside vulnerable women and high school students in Lima, volunteers will facilitate training workshops on personal empowerment, human rights, leadership, and productive skills โ while also contributing to community outreach events promoting gender equality and respect for women’s rights. Accommodation on the Pacific coast in Punta Negra, daily food stipend, and on-arrival training all provided. Deadline: 15 April 2026.
๐ต๐ช Did You Know? Lima is one of the largest cities in South America โ home to over 10 million people and one of the most culturally diverse urban centres on the continent. But just outside the city, Punta Negra โ where volunteers on this project will be accommodated โ is a quiet Pacific Ocean coastal town that offers a striking contrast to the urban intensity of Lima. Waking up to the Pacific while working on gender equality in one of South America’s most vibrant capitals is a genuinely unique combination.
What Will You Do?
๐ฉFacilitate training workshops for vulnerable women covering personal empowerment, leadership, self-confidence, and decision-making โ building skills and capacities that create lasting change
๐ปRun productive skills workshops including cooking and computer skills โ practical, hands-on sessions that increase economic independence
โ๏ธDeliver workshops on human rights, gender equity, and domestic violence prevention โ providing information and tools to women and young people in vulnerable situations
๐คHelp form and facilitate working groups between vulnerable women and high school students from local schools and the CETPRO โ fostering intergenerational collaboration and mutual learning
๐ฃOrganise community outreach and awareness events promoting gender equality, respect for women’s rights, and the value of women’s productive work in local communities
๐ก Did You Know? The CETPRO (Centro de Educaciรณn Tรฉcnico Productiva) system in Peru is a network of technical education centres designed to provide practical vocational training to young people and adults who lack access to formal education pathways. Working alongside CETPRO students as volunteers do in this project means contributing directly to one of Peru’s most important social mobility mechanisms โ connecting skills training with community development at ground level.
Accommodation, Food & Travel
๐ Accommodation in Punta Negra on the Pacific Ocean โ shared rooms between two volunteers, each with a private bathroom with shower and hot water. The house has a kitchen, laundry room, common area, and 24-hour Wi-Fi
๐ฝ๏ธDaily food stipend of 32 Peruvian soles (approximately โฌ8 per day) for lunch and dinner
๐Work sites are between 5 and 40 minutes from accommodation depending on the activity โ transport arrangements are in place for the project
โ๏ธTravel support provided in accordance with ESC Humanitarian Aid programme rules
Training & Learning
๐On-arrival training covering cultural orientation, personal safety, health and wellness, risk management, roles and responsibilities, target group sensitivity, communication skills, and emergency plans
โ ๏ธCandidates must have already completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training before starting the project โ this is a mandatory requirement
Who Can Apply?
๐You are between 18 and 35 years old and reside in an EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Turkey
๐You have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training โ this is mandatory and non-negotiable
๐You have not previously participated in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering โ and your total EU volunteering experience including this project must not exceed 12 months
๐ฉYou are passionate about women’s empowerment, gender equality, education, community development, and social justice
๐You are open-minded, adaptable, and culturally sensitive โ you will be working with vulnerable groups in a diverse urban environment
๐กA background or strong interest in education, community work, arts, social work, agriculture, or youth empowerment is valued โ experience in teaching or facilitation is an advantage but not mandatory
