Human Rights Watch invites motivated students to join its Development & Outreach Department in Sydney for a dynamic internship experience combining fundraising, outreach, event support, donor engagement, and daily operational tasks within a global human rights organization.

This internship offers a deep dive into advocacy, communications, research assistance, nonprofit management, and global human rights work.


๐Ÿ“ About the Internship

This internship is hosted by the Human Rights Watch Sydney Office, supporting the Development & Outreach Department.

๐Ÿ“† Duration

Mid-February 2026 โ€“ End of April 2026 (approx. 3 months)
โฑ๏ธ Part-time โ€” up to 20 hours per week
๐Ÿ“Œ Some flexibility in start date & possible extension.

๐ŸŒŸ What You Will Do

โœจ Support event planning & donor engagement
๐Ÿ“Š Use databases for outreach & fundraising tasks
๐Ÿค Assist in cultivating relationships with foundations, corporations & individual donors
๐ŸŽค Help prepare materials for HRW public events, briefings & meetings
๐Ÿ’ผ Collaborate with Sydney & global Development teams
๐Ÿ“ Contribute to outreach projects aligned with your interests
๐Ÿ‘ฅ Join weekly HRW staff activities (when possible)


๐ŸŽ“ Who Can Apply? (Eligibility)

Applicants must:

โœ”๏ธ Be currently enrolled students for the entire internship duration
โœ”๏ธ Have strong organizational skills and proactive work habits
โœ”๏ธ Demonstrate a genuine interest in international human rights
โœ”๏ธ Possess valid Australian work authorization

Preferred skills:

โ€ข Experience in fundraising, event planning, media, social media, Salesforce
โ€ข Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)
โ€ข Interest in nonprofits, advocacy, or international affairs


๐Ÿ’ผ Reimbursements

Interns working on-site can receive:

๐Ÿฑ Up to $20/day for lunch
๐Ÿš† Up to $15/day for transportation
