What is covered
ESC volunteering in France is fully funded. The programme covers your accommodation, food, local transport, insurance and a monthly pocket money allowance, with travel reimbursed according to the distance band between your home country and the project. You also receive language support and a mentor throughout your stay, and several French placements add French lessons on top. According to Youth Works Hub's review of these calls, the standard package applies across the board; for a project that involves a long flight, the travel band may not cover the entire ticket, so check the exact amount on the official project page before you apply.
Who can apply
To join an ESC project in France you need to be aged 18 to 30 and legally resident in an EU member state, an ESC associated country, or a partner country eligible for the specific project. Some placements below are open to applicants from many countries, while a few are limited to a single nationality, so always check the eligibility line on each project. A number of French projects work best with some basic French, which is noted where it matters. You register once on the ESC Portal, then apply to the ones that match you. No previous experience is required, and across your life you can volunteer through ESC for up to 12 months in total.

At Collège Rosa Parks in Pouillon, raise awareness of European citizenship and mobility, run a "café des langues", support language learning, join sustainability and well-being projects, and organise the European Day of Languages.

A dual placement between a school and a youth centre: design interactive language clubs, support Spanish projects, help organise events like Europe Day and guide eco-citizen initiatives, then lead socio-cultural activities during the holidays.

With Les Francas near Caen, design and lead fun, creative workshops and games about Europe and your home country, build educational materials and exhibitions, and join Europe Day and intercultural events across leisure and after-school centres.
5. 🇫🇷 Be a Bridge Between Cultures in Vierzon 🌍
📅 Deadline: 10 September 2026
Join the youth department of the City of Vierzon to promote youth mobility, citizenship and solidarity. Working mostly with 11 to 15 year-olds, share your mobility experience, run workshops in secondary schools, support intercultural events and even lead your own cultural project.
6. 🇫🇷 Boarding School Life and Civic Engagement 🎓

Support student life at a boarding school in a rural setting, contributing to civic engagement, sustainability initiatives and community activities alongside student unions and eco delegates.
7. 🇫🇷 Waste and Biodiversity Ambassador in a Coastal Bay ♻️
📅 Deadline: 14 September 2026
In a team of twelve volunteers, raise awareness about waste sorting and recycling, run workshops in schools and youth centres, meet residents through outreach, and take part in clean-ups, tree planting and biodiversity projects. Training in environmental awareness, public speaking and first aid included.
8. 🇫🇷 Renovating the House of Interculturality and Volunteering in Marseille 🔨
📅 Deadline: 15 September 2026
With Une Terre Culturelle in Marseille, help renovate the Maison IV through hands-on work like restoring windows and gardening, organise pedagogical and digital materials, and support intercultural exchange and international mobility projects.
9. 🇫🇷 European Citizenship and Mobility Awareness in Angers 🇪🇺
📅 Deadline: 18 September 2026
With Maison de l'Europe in Angers, prepare and run educational activities in schools about the EU, its values and mobility, share your experience as a young European, join Europe Month events and develop your own European-themed project.
10. 🇫🇷 Solidarity with Elders Through Visits, Games and Cultural Events 👵
📅 Deadline: 20 September 2026
Join a binational team of four French and four European volunteers in pairs, visiting isolated seniors, animating retirement homes and libraries with games and e-sport tournaments, and hosting intercultural evenings. French lessons and elderly care training included.
11. 🇫🇷 Tackling Elderly Isolation Through Intergenerational Visits 🤝
📅 Deadline: 20 September 2026
Help reduce isolation among older people through home visits and group activities, always working in pairs within a team of eight, building trust with isolated seniors and running animation activities in care homes and libraries. Open to residents of Italy.
12. 🇫🇷 Digital Communication for a European Network with Pistes Solidaires 📱
📅 Deadline: 30 September 2026
Manage social media for LE.MO.N, the first European network dedicated to international youth and education projects: create videos, write articles and run sustainability and citizenship campaigns. Strong Canva and Genially skills required, plus French and English.
13. 🇫🇷 Mobility Ambassador with the Youth Hub 🗺️
📅 Deadline: 30 September 2026
Promote European and international mobility, civic engagement and an international outlook among young people, contributing to local Youth Hub initiatives and events while engaging audiences through social media and public speaking. Basic French required.
14. 🇫🇷 European Citizenship and Community Projects near Montpellier 🇪🇺
📅 Deadline: 1 October 2026
In Frontignan la Peyrade near Montpellier, spend a year raising awareness of European citizenship through mobility programmes, with two days a week across partner organisations in sport, cinema, solidarity, inclusion and sustainability, plus your own personal project. Open to residents of Italy.
