Description

Solidarité Seniors is a program that responds to the challenge of « aging well ». In to 2 teams of 8 (4 French and 4 Europeans in each team, you will be in pairs, 1 French and 1 European). Each team will have to carry out the following activities: One team: Visit isolated elderly people, having previously prepared these visits, which will be carried out in pairs (1 French and 1 European) / Organize and set up group activities for older people, develop a relationship of trust with eldery people, The other team: Act with structures (retirement home, library) to participate in the animation of the place through play (tablets and set up health e-sport games on console switch), and organize 2 competitions in the year, develop a relationship of trust with elderly people, and also visit isolated seniors at home, In addition, the volunteers will implement intercultural actions within the housing residence. Joint mission: Organization of intercultural evening in your home.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The program covers: travel expenses (according to the European Union Distance Calculator), accommodation, food (allowance), bus transport and bike sharing, pocket money and health and other insurance. Accommodation: Horizon Habitat Jeunes La Rochelle district of Mireuil

Training during the activity

In addition to the ECS seminars we will offer additional training for volunteers. You will be working with the elderly, we will therefore train you to be able to accompany them and to offer them services/activities. You will also have French lessons and individual coaching time.

Participant profile

Motivation to improve your level of French, ability to communicate with different people. Enjoy working on a team. A desire to be in contact with the elderly is essential. The driving licence is not required but it is a plus. Due to a short timing we are not able to recruit volunteers that need a visa. Motivation pour améliorer son Français, capacité à communiquer avec des personnes différentes. Appétence pour le travail d'équipe. L'envie de travailler au contact des personnes âgées. Le permis n'est pas obligatoire mais c'est un plus. Au vue, du temps qui est court nous ne pouvons pas recruter des personnes avec Visa.
