ECO-AMBASSADORS OF EUROPEAN VALUES

MAISON DE L'EUROPE BORDEAUX - AQUITAINE
Bordeaux, France
DESCRIPTION
At Maison de l'Europe Bordeaux-Aquitaine (MEBA), we defend the idea that the European spirit is forged from simple daily actions that shape the common European identity. It's already been 11 years the MEBA has carried out the project ‘Ambassadors of European values’, aiming to contribute to the creation of a better and more peaceful environment through solidarity, team spirit, joy and optimism. But what do we do concretely? We present our countries, their culture, heritage, languages, gastronomy, politics, etc. through educational workshops at schools (primary-secondary-high schools), lead linguistic cafés, create a podcast and our own weekly radio shows, organise cultural events, create social media contents, participate at events organised by the city and meet local MPs, promote European mobility programmes, active citizenship, sustainability, environmental inclusion and solidarity in our society. Check us out on IG @maisondeleurope
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Your future flat is situated in a student residence in the neighbourhood of La Bastide in Bordeaux. The flat is shared by two, each of you having your own private room. The living room with kitchen and bathroom are shared, mutual respect is therefore required from both flatmates. The monthly allowance is 450€, laundry is not included, but the local transport card is provided as well as access to the OLS platform to improve your language skills. You'll be part of a group of 12 volunteers coming from different countries, so in case of difficulty, you'll always have someone to count on! :)
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
As every other volunteer, you will participate in the on-arrival and midterm seminars organised by the French National Agency. The first 2 months are dedicated to training including: discovery of the city and its heritage, workshops on intercultural learning and techniques of workshop animation; radio, video and visual facilitation trainings; basics of the EU and (eco)citizenship, etc. After that, an active phase of the project begins => the so-called interventions start. At MEBA, EVERY WEEK IS DIFFERENT & our timetable is rather DYNAMIC, but that's why you can only hardly get bored!
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
We're looking for someone who's not afraid to CREATE and CONDUCT educational workshops, ENTERTAIN youngsters & SPEAK in public. To speak to the microphone on the RADIO in French? Yes, that'll be one of your tasks... and leading conversation sessions with people of all ages in English or your beautiful native LANGUAGE as well! Having a POSITIVE attitude (not only) towards biking is a MUST! In our project, every week looks differently, therefore you need to be FLEXIBLE & ADAPTABLE as our timetable changes based on needs of our partners. But most IMPORTANTLY, we're looking for a MOTIVATED & RESPECTFUL people with some knowledge of FRENCH, as this is our working language we'll be using starting September. Do you meet ALL the criteria, you're available during the whole project period, you have checked us out on Instagram and you can imagine yourself being our future ambassador? APPLY! Fingers crossed :) * Please note that candidates not meeting all the above-mentioned criteria will not be considered, and we'll only get back to those who will be selected for an interview.
