DESCRIPTION
At Outward Bound Romania Youth Center in Sovata for 2026 we have 2 NEW open spots for volunteers who would like to develop in outdoor experiential education and practice outdoor youthwork. Tasks of the volunteer: participation in the organization and implementation of adventure education courses, involvement in equipment management, support in the logistics of outdoor education programs, some of them working on social media campaigns and editing videos about the programs, projects. We offer: in total 2 places for 6-month volunteering period, composed of a personal experience, approx. 10 days of training and a minimum of 60 days of experience, leading outdoor educational programs for divers group. During the volunteering, you will have the opportunity to learn to independently design, facilitate, and conduct outdoor education programs. The volunteers will acquire basic outdoor skills, pedagogical competencies, and will also develop their personality, solidarity, and green skills.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
The volunteers will be accommodated in a 3 room flat in Sovata. They will work in our youth center in Sovata, which includes a big house for the participants, a smaller house for the staff, a small lake, a ropes course, and a big yard. When we have groups in the youth center the volunteers will sleep there, meals will be provided by the kitchen. OBR will provide 150 EUR/month for food and 4 euro/ day pocket money. International and local travel costs are covered based on the original invoices and tickets.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
Internal courses organized by Outward Bound Romania in the topic of expedition, water activities, ropes course and rock climbing, how to use the outdoor method as a tool of learning and developing. Additionally, OnArrival Training and Mid-term Training organized by the Romanian National Agency.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
You are the ideal candidate if: โ you are between 20-30 years old โ you are a resident of one of the European Union countries โ you have graduated from colleg โ you can move to Sovata for the 6 month volunteering period โ you speak good level of English โ you enjoy working with children/young people (experience is an advantage) โ you enjoy spending time in nature, hiking, and outdoor activities and have physical endurance โ you enjoy challenges, adapt easily, are open to new things, and can withstand stressful situations
