๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญ ESC Volunteering in Ghana ๐Ÿ’œ Health Education, Gender Equality & Community Empowerment in Upper East Ghana ๐ŸŒ

High maternal mortality, teenage pregnancy, girls dropping out of school, women underrepresented in leadership โ€” the Nabdam district in Upper East Ghana faces a specific and serious set of challenges. This ESC placement is for someone who wants to do something about that, directly, in the community where it matters most.

Kongo Community Development Organisation (KoCDA) is a community-based organisation in Kongo, Upper East Ghana, working to improve health awareness, promote gender equality, and strengthen inclusive participation among young people and women in the Nabdam district. They are looking for a European volunteer to support community education, youth empowerment, and advocacy as part of the RISE project โ€” Reinforcing Inclusion through Solidarity and Empowerment.

What Is This Role About?

The challenges KoCDA works on are interconnected: limited access to accurate sexual and reproductive health information, high maternal mortality, teenage pregnancy, unequal access to education for girls, and women’s underrepresentation in decision-making. As a volunteer, you will support the organisation’s efforts to address these issues through community education, advocacy, and youth engagement โ€” working alongside local teams and community members in a context that requires cultural sensitivity, patience, and genuine commitment.
