Gori carries a history that most Europeans only read about. This ESC placement puts you right in the middle of the work being done to rebuild โ not infrastructure, but community, trust, and hope โ through youth work and civil society engagement.
Civil Forum Shida Kartli is a civil society organisation based in Gori, Georgia, working on post-conflict reconstruction and peace-building in one of the region’s most historically significant areas. One of their branches is located directly in an IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) settlement in Gori โ meaning the work here is as close to the ground as it gets.
This placement is organised in partnership with sending organisation ICJA โ Freiwilligenaustausch Weltweit and is open to participants from Germany only.
What Is This Role About?
The core purpose of this project is to develop and promote knowledge of post-conflict reconstruction and peace-building. As a volunteer, you will support the day-to-day work of Civil Forum for Peace โ from organisational and administrative tasks to building networks, planning projects, and working directly with local youth affected by war.
You will also have the opportunity to work with youth clubs in Gori, promoting volunteering and solidarity among young people in the community. This is a role that combines office-based work with direct youth engagement โ and the learning opportunities, both informal and non-formal, are genuinely significant.
