NGO Mondo and Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA) are offering an ESC Humanitarian Aid Volunteering placement in Tamale, Ghana โ for a proactive, creative volunteer ready to strengthen digital capacity both inside an NGO and across the communities it serves.
๐ข About GDCA and the RISE Project
GDCA (Ghana Developing Communities Association) is a community development organisation based in Tamale, northern Ghana. This placement is part of the RISE project (Reinforcing Inclusion through Solidarity and Empowerment), which offers volunteers three levels of mentoring โ from the supporting organisation, the hosting organisation, and an alumni volunteer โ alongside intercultural activities and local language classes.
๐ What You’ll Do
๐ฑ Manage GDCA’s social media โ especially Instagram and LinkedIn โ creating engaging content and ensuring branding consistency
๐ง Provide basic IT support and improve internal digital organisation and data management
โ๏ธ Introduce simple digital tools to make internal workflows more efficient
๐ Deliver digital skills training for staff every 1โ2 weeks โ covering digital tools, online communication, data organisation, and basic cybersecurity
๐ Lead digital literacy training in rural communities โ adapting methods to low-resource contexts
๐ก Develop an independent digital innovation project with lasting local value, in collaboration with GDCA staff
๐ What the Project Provides
๐ Self-contained flat with soft furnishings close to the office โ typically 1 or 2 bedrooms
๐ก Utilities included โ water, electricity, internet, and satellite TV
๐ณ Basic kitchen facilities for meal preparation
๐ Transport for official duties provided by GDCA
๐ฃ๏ธ Access to local language classes and intercultural activities
๐งโ๐ซ Three-sided mentoring โ supporting organisation, hosting organisation, and alumni volunteer
๐ Pre-departure training and welcome induction upon arrival
โ Eligibility Requirements
This is a Humanitarian Aid Volunteering placement:
๐ Aged 18โ35
๐ Must reside in an eligible country (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Tรผrkiye)
โ Must have completed the compulsory face-to-face Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training
๐ซ Must not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering
โฑ๏ธ Total duration of this and any previous EU volunteering must not exceed 12 months
๐ค Who Should Apply
๐ Proficiency in English (B2โC1) โ essential
๐ป Passionate about ICT, digital communication, and digital inclusion
๐ค Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills
๐ Proactive, adaptable, and able to facilitate discussions and organise activities
๐ Genuine commitment to community empowerment in low-resource contexts
