Dom Pomocy Spoลecznej in Gdynia is looking for an ESC volunteer to bring creativity, patience, and fresh ideas to their senior residents โ and to be part of a team that genuinely cares about the people it serves.
๐ก About the Home
The Social Welfare Home in Gdynia is a residential care facility for 79 elderly residents, situated in a unique setting with a garden close to the forest. The team of 67 workers includes therapists, social workers, psychologists, speech therapists, nurses, and physiotherapists. The approach to care is holistic โ addressing physical, emotional, social, and cultural needs through a wide range of therapeutic and creative activities.
๐ฏ The Role
Volunteers will primarily support the Occupational Therapy department, which uses diverse therapeutic approaches including arts and crafts, audio-visual therapy, music therapy, recreational activities, cultural and educational therapy, bibliotherapy, and sociotherapy.
๐ What You’ll Do
๐จ Lead and support handicraft, drawing, painting, and sewing workshops
๐ต Contribute to music therapy and audio-visual therapy activities
๐ Support bibliotherapy and sociotherapy sessions
๐ณ Help with gardening โ caring for flowers, trees, and shrubs
๐๏ธ Support the rehabilitation of residents where possible
๐ก Bring your own fresh ideas and inspiration for new workshop formats
๐ What the Project Provides
๐ Accommodation in a rented flat โ 1โ2 person room shared with other volunteers
๐ถ Monthly pocket money and allowance
๐ Monthly budget for bus tickets in Gdynia
๐ Two mandatory trainings provided by the National Agency โ On-arrival Training and Mid-term Training
๐ Additional trainings organised and run by the supporting organisation
๐ค Who Should Apply
The Social Welfare Home is looking for volunteers who:
๐ด Are open to working with elderly people with genuine warmth and patience
๐จ Like to handicraft, draw, paint, and sew โ or are eager to learn
โค๏ธ Have a positive attitude, patience, and empathy
๐ก Are creative and independent, always looking for new ideas
๐ต๐ฑ Are willing to learn basic Polish phrases for better day-to-day communication
