If you’re curious about what real countryside life in Northern Europe looks like—not as a visitor but as part of the community—this project gives you exactly that. It’s not for everyone, but for the right person, it’s a deep cultural and social experience.

📌 Project Overview

This ESC volunteering opportunity takes place in Nivala, Finland, a small rural municipality with around 10,000 inhabitants.

You won’t be placed in just one organization—instead, you’ll work with different local actors, mainly in youth work and wellbeing services. This means your role can shift depending on where you are placed.

🎯 Main Activities

👶 Working with children and young people
🎭 Supporting cultural activities like events, concerts, and exhibitions
📚 Assisting in library services and community spaces
🏀 Engaging in sports and youth activities
🎉 Helping organize local events and community initiatives

Important to understand:

🌑 Winters can be cold and very dark

This is a remote lifestyle, not a city experience.

💶 Pocket money: 210 € per month (7 € per day)
✈️ Travel covered according to ESC rules
