π·π΄ Erasmus+ Youth Exchange in Romania π Future-Ready Youth π Sustainability, Key Competences & Personal Development, Curteni π·π΄
In a world that is changing faster than ever, young people need more than knowledge β they need skills, confidence, and the ability to adapt, participate, and make responsible choices. Future-Ready Youth is a fully-funded Erasmus+ Youth Exchange in Curteni, Romania, bringing together 28 young people aged 16 to 20 from Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Serbia for seven days of interactive, non-formal learning focused on sustainability and the 8 Key Competences for Lifelong Learning. This is not a conference or a lecture series β it is a living, doing, collaborating experience that will leave you more aware, more connected, and genuinely more future-ready. Apply as soon as possible β selection is ongoing.
π Did You Know? Curteni is a small, tranquil locality in MureΘ County in the heart of Transylvania β one of Romania’s most scenically beautiful and historically rich regions. The surrounding landscape of rolling hills, forests, and traditional villages provides an ideal backdrop for reflection, outdoor activities, and the kind of genuine human connection that only happens when you step away from city noise and into nature.
What Is This Project About?
π Future-Ready Youth is built around two interconnected pillars: sustainability β exploring how young people can make responsible, impactful choices in their everyday lives β and the 8 Key Competences for Lifelong Learning, which the EU identifies as the essential skills every young person needs to thrive in modern society
π The exchange brings together young people from four countries to discover through real experience how competences like communication, teamwork, creativity, digital literacy, initiative, and active citizenship are developed not in classrooms, but through doing, collaborating, and exchanging ideas across cultures
π‘ Every day of the programme is structured around a different key competence β from science and technology to digital tools, cultural expression, entrepreneurship, and personal development β each explored through the lens of sustainability
π± By the end of the exchange, participants are expected to design and later implement a small-scale sustainability initiative in their own local community β turning the learning into tangible local action
π Did You Know? The European Union’s 8 Key Competences for Lifelong Learning β which include literacy, multilingual, mathematical, science and technology, digital, personal and social, citizenship, and entrepreneurship competences β form the backbone of modern youth education policy across Europe. Research consistently shows that young people who develop these competences through non-formal experiences like youth exchanges are significantly better equipped to navigate the challenges of education, employment, and civic life.
