๐ Project Mission & Objectives
๐ฏ The SOLIDMAR project aims to empower young people to become guardians of our oceans. ๐ Based in Cambados, Galicia, volunteers will focus on practical solutions for marine conservation and supporting the resilience of coastal communities. ๐
๐ก Through hands-on activities, you will contribute to the circular economy by managing seafood waste composting and recycling initiatives. โป๏ธ You will document traditional fishing knowledge and help restore vital shellfish beds, ensuring a sustainable future for both the environment and local livelihoods. ๐ก๏ธ
๐ ๏ธ Your Role and Daily Tasks
๐งน Coastal Clean-ups: Lead and participate in organized efforts to remove waste from local beaches and shores.
๐ Shellfish Bed Restoration: Work on the ground to restore and protect the natural habitats of local seafood resources.
โป๏ธ Circular Economy: Assist in seafood waste composting and innovative recycling initiatives.
๐ข Environmental Awareness: Organize events to educate the public about sustainable fishing and marine protection.
๐ Knowledge Documentation: Document traditional fishing practices and sustainable methods from local experts. ๐ฅ
๐๏ธ Accommodation and Life in Galicia
๐ Volunteers will live in the historic “Casa dos Maza”, a beautiful Pazo situated on a hill with a panoramic view of the Rรญa de Arousa. ๐ก You will stay in shared double or triple rooms, each equipped with a private bathroom. The house features a large garden, terrace, and a shared kitchen for collective life. ๐ณ
๐ถ The host organization covers all travel and food costs according to ESC regulations. ๐ฝ๏ธ Living in Cambados, famous for its Albariรฑo wine and seafood, offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Galician culture and Atlantic coastal life. ๐ทโ
