🌍 About the Project

This ESC Individual Volunteering opportunity takes place in Menfi, Sicily 🇮🇹 within a housing community managed by a social cooperative supporting minors.

Volunteers will assist educators in a shelter for boys aged 13–18 who are on a rehabilitation and social inclusion path, and also support activities in a children’s community (0–13 years old). You will share daily life with the youngsters and become part of a small-town community experience.

🤝 What You Will Do

📚 Support afterschool education (foreign language lessons, educational workshops)
🎭 Create engaging workshops such as cooking, theatre, music and creative activities
🗣️ Organize language exchange moments
🎉 Plan celebrations for special occasions and festivities
🍝 Help manage daily community life (meal preparation, keeping spaces clean and welcoming)
🚌 Accompany youngsters on trips to discover the town and surrounding area

🏠 Accommodation, Food and Financial Support

🕒 5 working days per week, max. 35 hours
🛌 2 consecutive days off per week (not weekends, not overlapping with other volunteers)
📅 2 additional free days per month
🏡 Shared flat in Menfi with double bedrooms, kitchen and 2 bathrooms
💶 6€ pocket money per day
🍽️ 100€ per month for food expenses

👤 Participant Profile

📅 Available for the whole period March 2026 – October 2026
👦 Ready to work with boys (13–18) and children (0–13) from diverse social backgrounds
🎓 Background or experience in social work or psychology (especially for teenagers) preferred
🧠 Patient, creative and respectful of rules
🌟 Communicative, proactive and adaptable
🤝 Able to cooperate with educators and take responsibility
📋 Capable of planning and managing activities
🏘️ Ready to live in a small town
🇮🇹 Willing to learn Italian or already has basic knowledge
🎂 Aged 24–30 (for the community with teenagers)
👥 1 male and 2 female volunteers foreseen
