๐ Project Overview
Civic Ecology Garden II is an ESC Volunteering Teams project hosted by KAPNIKOS STATHMOS KATERINIS in Katerini, Greece.
The Civic Ecology Garden functions both as a productive ecological garden and as an open community space that promotes sustainability, reuse and responsible food production. The project combines environmental action with solidarity-based initiatives, showing how ecological work can directly support social impact within the community.
Part of the gardenโs production contributes to the organisationโs solidarity actions, linking food production with social support. Volunteersโ responsibilities are cross-project and interconnected, combining garden activities with participation in other social initiatives of the organisation. This allows participants to experience how ecological, social and solidarity-based actions reinforce one another in real life.
Through daily cooperation and practical work, volunteers gain insight into the environmental and social impact of small-scale initiatives, while contributing to the successful reclamation and adaptive reuse of an abandoned public space for community benefit.
This activity is funded by SNJ Luxembourg.
