An Erasmus+ Training Course will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, bringing together youth workers from 10 European countries to strengthen assertive communication skills and improve professional resilience in youth work practice.

This project focuses on empowering youth workers to communicate clearly, set healthy boundaries, manage conflicts constructively and provide meaningful feedback while maintaining empathy and mutual respect.

🎯 Project Focus

Assertiveness is a communication style characterized by confidently expressing opinions, needs and boundaries in a clear, honest and respectful way, while considering others’ rights and perspectives.

The training aims to:

🗣 Strengthen assertive communication skills
⚖ Support youth workers in setting healthy boundaries
🤝 Improve constructive conflict management
💬 Develop meaningful and empathetic feedback delivery
🧠 Enhance well-being, resilience and self-respect
🌱 Foster inclusive and empowering youth environments

The project introduces key assertiveness principles such as:

✔ The right to say “no”
✔ The right to make mistakes
✔ The right to express feelings respectfully
✔ The right to set personal priorities
✔ The right to respect oneself
✔ The right to be assertive without guilt

🎓 Methodology

The training is based on non-formal education and experiential learning principles.

🧩 Practical application phase after skill-building sessions

The programme is divided into two parts:
In the first phase, participants gain theoretical knowledge and core competencies.
In the second phase, they apply these skills in practical, team-based exercises focused on inclusive and participatory youth work.
