Mental Health in Long-term Volunteering โ Healthy Volunteers & Healthy Coordinators
๐งฉ About the Training Course
Mental health has become one of the most critical topics in international volunteering. This Erasmus+ Training Course focuses on both sides of the process: the well-being of young volunteers and the mental health of professionals working with them.
The training is designed for experienced youth workers, coordinators, mentors, and professionals involved in the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and similar international volunteering programmes. It does not provide therapy or clinical intervention. Instead, it offers trauma-sensitive, pedagogical, and practical tools that can be used safely in everyday professional contexts.
Participants will explore stress, resilience, boundaries, and self-care while learning how to recognise and respond to mental health challenges among volunteers in a responsible, non-therapeutic way.
๐ Training Structure & Content
The programme is built around two complementary components:
๐ฃ๏ธ Exchange of Experience & Practices
Participants share real-life experiences from different countries, including support systems, healthcare contexts, and organisational approaches to mental health in volunteering.
๐ง Specialised Resilience Workshop
A two-day workshop led by a qualified resilience trainer, focusing on:
๐ Strengthening professionalsโ own mental well-being
๐งญ Trauma-sensitive support for young volunteers
โ๏ธ Setting healthy boundaries in professional roles
๐ ๏ธ Practical strategies for daily pedagogical work
All sessions emphasise reflection, peer learning, evaluation, and networking to improve long-term support structures across Europe.
