🇵🇹 About the Training Course

LARP Essentials for Youth Work is an immersive Erasmus+ training course taking place in beautiful Madeira, Portugal 🇵🇹, bringing together youth workers from across Europe—including Austria 🇦🇹, Belgium 🇧🇪, Bulgaria 🇧🇬, Croatia 🇭🇷, Cyprus 🇨🇾, Czech Republic 🇨🇿, Denmark 🇩🇰, Estonia 🇪🇪, Finland 🇫🇮, France 🇫🇷, Germany 🇩🇪, Greece 🇬🇷, Hungary 🇭🇺, Iceland 🇮🇸, Ireland 🇮🇪, Italy 🇮🇹, Latvia 🇱🇻, Liechtenstein 🇱🇮, Lithuania 🇱🇹, Luxembourg 🇱🇺, Malta 🇲🇹, Netherlands 🇳🇱, Norway 🇳🇴, Poland 🇵🇱, Portugal 🇵🇹, North Macedonia 🇲🇰, Romania 🇷🇴, Serbia 🇷🇸, Slovakia 🇸🇰, Slovenia 🇸🇮, Spain 🇪🇸, Sweden 🇸🇪 and Türkiye 🇹🇷.

The course equips participants with the fundamental principles, practical tools and creative approaches of Live Action Role Play (LARP)—a dynamic and experiential method rooted in improvisation, storytelling, social simulation, theatre and playful embodiment.

🎭 What Is LARP?

🌟 A role-playing experience where participants physically embody characters
🗺️ Stories take place in real-world spaces adapted into fictional settings
🤝 Participants interact “in character” while pursuing personal or shared goals
🎪 Inspired by: make-believe games, theatre, simulations, costume play, re-enactments
🎬 Ranges from small 1-hour activities to large-scale multi-day events

In this training, the focus is on beginner-friendly, low-budget, easy-to-run LARPs that youth workers can directly apply in schools, youth centres, NGOs and community settings.

👥 Who We Are Looking For

✔ Youth workers, educators, trainers, facilitators
✔ Active members of youth organisations with a valid OID
✔ Motivated to use LARP in their work
✔ Good English skills
✔ 18+
✔ Legal residence in the country of application (mandatory)
✔ Must travel from and to the country of residence

🏡 Accommodation & Food

🏠 Dorm-style rooms (2–6 people, bunk beds)
🍽️ Buffet meals, all diets covered
💶 Fully funded during the training period
🛏️ Simple, comfortable, youth-friendly environment

✈️ Travel Reimbursement

Reimbursement is based strictly on the official Erasmus+ Distance Calculator.
Examples:
• 10–99 km → 56€ (Green) / 28€ (Non-green)
• 100–499 km → 285€ (Green) / 211€ (Non-green)
• 500–1999 km → 309€
• 2000–2999 km → 395€
• 3000–3999 km → 580€
• 4000–7999 km → 1188€
• 8000+ km → 1735€
