Youth Mobility Leaders is an Erasmus+ Training Course in Salinas, Asturias, Spain — organised by Ye Too Ponese — built entirely around the practical, ethical, and safety dimensions of accompanying young people in international youth mobility. You will explore your role and responsibilities as a group leader, develop inclusion strategies, learn crisis and risk management tools, and build your capacity to create safer learning spaces. 100% funded. 🇪🇸 Did You Know? Salinas is a small coastal town in the Asturias region of northern Spain — one of the greenest and most scenically dramatic parts of the Iberian Peninsula. Asturias is known for its rugged Atlantic coastline, ancient forests, and the Picos de Europa mountain range. It is also the only region of Spain that was never conquered by the Moors — giving it a unique historical and cultural identity. Salinas Surf Camp, where the training takes place, sits right on the coast, offering an exceptional natural environment for a residential learning experience.
What Will You Learn and Do?
🏛️Understand the role and responsibilities of group leaders in Erasmus+ youth mobility projects — exploring the ethical, practical, and legal dimensions of accompanying young people under 18 internationally
♿Reflect on inclusion and diversity and develop concrete strategies to support participants with fewer opportunities — including highly vulnerable young people — before, during, and after a youth exchange
🛡️Try out practical tools and methods for creating safer learning spaces — including basic risk awareness and crisis management approaches relevant to youth mobility settings
🎭Work through concrete scenarios that group leaders may face during youth exchanges — experiential, practice-based learning that goes beyond theory
🔄Engage in group reflection and peer learning based on participants’ real experiences — building on what you already know and learning from others in the room
🗺️Plan how your learning can be transferred back into future youth exchanges within your own organisation — leaving with a concrete application strategy, not just knowledge
💡 Did You Know? The concept of “highly vulnerable young people” in Erasmus+ refers to participants who face compounded barriers — such as young people in care, those with serious mental health challenges, unaccompanied minors, or young people affected by trauma or extreme poverty. As Erasmus+ increasingly promotes the inclusion of these groups in international mobility, the demand for properly trained group leaders who understand safeguarding, crisis response, and inclusive facilitation has never been higher. This training directly addresses that gap.
Accommodation & Venue
🏄Salinas Surf Camp — a house located in the coastal town of Salinas, Asturias. Participants stay in shared rooms of 3–4 people, with room arrangements that respect diverse gender identities
🍽️Three meals and two breaks provided daily — meat consumption will be reduced. Selected participants will receive a form to specify dietary requirements, allergies, or other needs
✈️Arrivals on 12 May (all-day). Departures on 19 May (check-out at 10:00). Asturias is not directly connected to many airports — you may need to fly to Madrid or Bilbao and take a bus. Full travel guidance provided to selected participants
🌿Sustainable travel is strongly encouraged — green travel options come with a higher reimbursement ceiling. Send your travel proposal to yetooponese@gmail.com for approval before purchasing tickets
Costs & Travel Reimbursement
💰100% funded — no participation fee. Accommodation and food fully covered by the project
✈️Travel reimbursement based on Erasmus+ distance bands: €211 (100–499 km) / €309 (500–1999 km) / €395 (2000–2999 km). Green travel rates: €285 / €417 / €535
⚠️Only travel approved in advance by the hosting team will be reimbursed — send your travel proposal before purchasing. Keep all receipts, invoices, and boarding passes
📋Full attendance at all sessions is required. Participants must also write a short article or post about their experience and share it with the hosting organisation
🎓Youthpass certificate issued upon completion — official recognition of competence development during the activity
Who Can Apply?
🎂You are at least 21 years old and have experience working with young people — particularly those with fewer opportunities or in vulnerable situations
🏛️You are connected to a youth organisation, NGO, school, or other entity working with young people and international mobilities — your organisation’s OID will be required and a participation agreement will be signed
👶You are involved in — or planning to be involved in — Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges with participants under 18, and are motivated to act as a group leader in inclusive youth mobility projects
🗣️You have at least an intermediate level of English — authentic, honest answers are valued over polished writing. AI-generated applications may not be considered in the selection process
