๐ฎ๐ช About the Hosting Organisation
Habitat for Humanity (Ireland) offers a meaningful ESC volunteering experience in Dublin, where young people contribute directly to social inclusion, sustainability, and community support. Volunteers join the Habitat ReStore team, helping to reduce waste, provide affordable household items, and strengthen local communities. This opportunity allows volunteers to gain practical experience while supporting an organisation focused on housing, dignity, and positive social impact.
๐งฉ What You Will Do
Volunteers participate in a variety of hands-on activities such as customer service, receiving and organising donations, preparing shelves and displays, pricing items, and supporting administrative work. You may also assist other volunteers who have learning disabilities or mental health challenges, contributing to an inclusive work environment. Depending on the season and organisational needs, you may take part in additional Habitat projects like the House to Home painting programme, collaborating with schools for awareness activities, or helping with community engagement initiatives.
๐ Accommodation, Food & Travel
Volunteers live together in shared accommodation in Dublin, each with their own private bedroom and shared kitchen, bathroom, and living areas. Volunteers cook their own meals, with monthly allowances covering food expenses. Depending on the location of the placement, volunteers may walk or use public transport, with all bus and train costs fully reimbursed. Final accommodation details will be provided closer to the start of the activity.
๐ Training During the Activity
Upon arrival, volunteers receive induction training covering Habitatโs mission, ReStore operations, health and safety regulations, customer service expectations, and local area orientation. Additional training will be provided depending on the volunteerโs tasks. Throughout the volunteering period, continuous mentoring and professional support will be available, and additional training will be arranged if specific needs arise.
๐ค Participant Profile
Habitat for Humanity seeks motivated volunteers with a good level of English who enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds. Volunteers must be flexible, proactive, willing to take initiative, and comfortable with hands-on tasks. No previous experience is necessary, but a willingness to learn and contribute to a team environment is essential. The activity requires a minimum commitment of six months, with the option to extend to one year.
