🏰 About the Solitude Fellowships
The Akademie Schloss Solitude invites applications for the 2026–2028 residential fellowship program, offering up to 60 international residencies in Stuttgart, Germany.
For over 30 years, Akademie Schloss Solitude has been a leading interdisciplinary residency program — providing time, space, and resources for creatives and thinkers from around the world to engage in deep reflection, experimentation, and cross-disciplinary exchange.
The Solitude Fellowship supports innovation and diversity by fostering an open, globally connected cultural landscapein Baden-Württemberg and beyond.
💡 What the Fellowship Offers
Selected fellows will receive:
🏠 A 6- or 9-month residency in Stuttgart
💶 Monthly stipend of €1,300
🪞 Furnished live/work studio with utilities included
✈️ One-time travel allowance for arrival and departure
🌍 Opportunities for collaborations and events with local cultural institutions and creative networks in the region
The program is open-ended — there are no fixed expectations regarding artistic or research outcomes, allowing for freedom and experimentation.
👩🎨 Who Can Apply
The fellowship welcomes:
- Individuals with 2–10 years of independent practice after completing formal training, regardless of age.
- Collectives (up to 2 people), provided they have been working together for at least two years.
Not eligible:
- Applicants still in training or studies (except PhD candidates).
- Individuals holding a permanent professorship.
Working languages: English and/or German (the house language is English).

Stage 1 – Open Short Application

Applicants submit a short online application via the official platform.
An anonymous random selection may be used in highly competitive fields to ensure fairness.
Stage 2 – Full Application
📅 November 24 – December 19, 2025 (6 PM CET)
Applicants admitted from Stage 1 will be invited to submit a full application online.
All applicants will be notified by e-mail after each stage.
