🌍 About the Scholarship
The ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship offers outstanding young researchers from developing countries the chance to pursue fully funded doctoral studies in China for up to 4 years.
This prestigious scholarship—established through cooperation between ANSO, CAS, and TWAS/UNESCO—aims to cultivate the next generation of scientific leaders, especially encouraging women and applicants from Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
Each year, up to 40 PhD students are supported to study in top Chinese research institutions.

✅ Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Not hold Chinese citizenship.
- Be nationals of a developing country (see full list on TWAS website).
- Be born on or after 1 January 1990.
- Be proficient in English or Chinese.
- Meet the admission requirements of USTC or UCAS.
- Not already be enrolled in a PhD programme in China.
- Apply to only one university (USTC or UCAS).
