The Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship by the Swedish Institute supports exceptional women from Africa and Asia who aspire to lead innovation, advance gender equality, and build more sustainable societies through STEM-based education.

The programme funds one- or two-year master’s degrees at Swedish universities offering English-taught programmes in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Through this initiative, Sweden champions diversity as a driver of innovation — empowering women to shape a sustainable and inclusive future.

✅ Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

Be female citizens of one of the 10 eligible countries in Africa or Asia (list on SI website)
Apply to an eligible STEM-related master’s programme in Sweden
Be liable to pay tuition fees through University Admissions Sweden
Have documented work and leadership experience
Not hold a Swedish degree or have previously received an SI scholarship
Meet the academic requirements of the chosen master’s programme
