Embark on a wildlife adventure with Opvangcentrum voor Vogels en Wilde dieren Oostende in Belgium! As a Wildlife Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in the daily operations of the Wildlife Rehab Centre, contributing to the care and rehabilitation of birds and mammals.

📅 Activity Dates: March 15, 2024, to January 14, 2025

🌳 Activity Description:
You’ll be hands-on, learning the ropes of wildlife rehabilitation, from feeding and weighing animals to cleaning cages and assisting in various tasks. As you progress, you’ll gain skills in rehabilitating different species, handling oiled wildlife, and more. Teamwork is key, working alongside a motivated group of volunteers in a supportive environment. No prior knowledge is necessary—just a passion for nature, a willingness to learn, and a commitment of 6 months or a year.

🏠 Accommodation, Food, and Transport:

  • Your own room in a shared house, 25 minutes from the Wildlife Centre.
  • Monthly allowance of €360 covering food and pocket money.
  • Provided with a bike for easy access to the city centre, just a 5-minute ride from the ESC house.

🎓 Training During the Activity:

  • Initial training with experienced volunteers or staff.
  • Step-by-step introduction to protocols and work procedures.
  • Formations on specific subjects (orphaned wildlife, oiled wildlife, etc.) throughout the year.

👤 Participant Profile:

  • Age: 19-30 years old.
  • Passion for nature and wildlife.
  • Willing to commit 6 months or a year to the project.
  • Flexibility for weekend work.
  • Good physical condition and readiness to get hands dirty.
  • Positive attitude, openness to learning, and ability to work in a team.
  • English: minimum A2.
