CICOPS is the international cooperation programme of the University of Pavia, one of Italy’s oldest and most prestigious universities. Together with EDISU (Institute of the Right to University Studies), it funds visiting scholar stays to foster research collaboration between Pavia’s faculty and academics from World Bank low-income, lower-middle income, and upper-middle income economies.

✅ Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

🌍 Currently residing in a World Bank low-income, lower-middle income, or upper-middle income economy at the application deadline

🎓 Hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree obtained by the application deadline and be currently employed by a university or higher education institution

and/or

💼 Be currently employed for at least two years (teaching, lecturing, research, or technical roles) by:

🏫 A university or higher education institution

🔬 A public or non-profit research centre

🌐 An intergovernmental or international public institution (only if research or technical duties are documented)

— all based in an eligible country

📄 Demonstrate recent research activity through at least 2 authored scientific publications or outputs in the field of the proposed joint research
