๐ Introduction
There are projects where you โhelp.โ
And there are projects where you become part of someoneโs daily life.
This one is clearly the second.
In Sicily, youโre not stepping into a structured schedule and leaving at the end of the day. Youโre entering a living environment where young people are going through real challenges โ and where consistency, presence, and trust matter more than any activity you plan.
Itโs not about doing more. Itโs about showing up, every day, in a way that actually matters.
๐ก Did You Know? ๐ฎ๐น
Small towns in Sicily often rely heavily on community-based social services, where daily interaction and relationships play a key role in supporting young people at risk.

๐ก Did You Know? ๐
When people look into ESC volunteering in social work or projects with vulnerable youth, they often expect structured roles with clear boundaries. In reality, projects like this are built around everyday life. You donโt only โrun activitiesโ โ you share meals, conversations, routines, and responsibilities. Thatโs where the real impact happens. Over time, you learn how to communicate in complex situations, how to build trust, and how to respond to different behaviors. These are not skills you pick up from theory. They come directly from being present in environments like this.
