The NL Scholarship 2026 at Erasmus University Rotterdam offers Dutch Bachelor’s and Master’s students a one-time grant of โ‚ฌ2,500 to support a study exchange, internship, or research period outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in partnership with Dutch universities, this need-based scholarship is designed to help students with financial necessity gain valuable international academic and professional experience beyond Europe’s borders.

๐ŸŒ Did You Know? Erasmus University Rotterdam is named after Desiderius Erasmus โ€” the 15th-century humanist philosopher and Rotterdam native who became one of the most influential thinkers in European history. The Erasmus Programme, which funds student mobility across Europe, was also named in his honour, cementing Rotterdam’s global legacy as a city defined by openness, exchange, and international connection.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

๐Ÿ’ถ โ‚ฌ2,500 One-Time Grant: A single financial support payment to help cover travel, accommodation, and living costs during the mobility period abroad.
โœˆ๏ธ Travel & Living Costs: The grant is specifically designed to offset the higher costs associated with study, internship, or research periods outside the EEA โ€” where cost of living and travel expenses are typically higher than in Europe.
๐ŸŒ International Experience: Recipients gain global academic and professional exposure, intercultural skills, and enhanced employability โ€” strengthening their academic and career profile significantly.
๐ŸŒ Did You Know? Students who complete an international exchange, internship, or research period outside their home country earn on average 25% more in their first job than those who do not go abroad โ€” according to research by the European Commission. International mobility is also consistently linked to faster career progression, greater adaptability, and stronger cross-cultural communication skills throughout professional life.
