Are you a youth worker, trainer, or youth leader who wants to equip the next generation with the tools to think critically, resist disinformation, and engage actively in European democratic life? Building Generations for EU Democracy is an Erasmus+ KA1 Training Course in Constanศ›a, Romania โ€” right on the Black Sea coast โ€” bringing together 25 youth workers from five European countries for an intensive week of non-formal education, methodological innovation, and practical capacity building. You will explore EU democratic values, media literacy, fact-checking, the Ladder of Youth Participation, and the RMSOS model โ€” and leave ready to run workshops for over 100 young people in your own local high schools and community centres. Accommodation, meals, and travel all covered. Deadline: 2 April 2026.
๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ด Did You Know? Constanศ›a is Romania’s largest port city and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe โ€” founded over 2,600 years ago as the ancient Greek colony of Tomis. It sits on the Black Sea coast in the Dobrogea region and was notably the place of exile of the Roman poet Ovid. Today it is a vibrant coastal city with a fascinating mix of ancient ruins, Ottoman architecture, and a lively modern waterfront โ€” an extraordinary setting for a training course on European democratic values.

What Will You Learn and Do?

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บDeepen your understanding of EU democratic values, the role of European institutions, fundamental rights, and the mechanisms through which active citizenship is built and sustained
๐Ÿ“ฐExplore the mechanisms of disinformation, populism, and online manipulation โ€” and develop practical fact-checking skills using platforms like EUvsDisinfo and Snopes
๐ŸŽ“Learn and practise at least 5 new non-formal education methods focused on critical thinking and democratic engagement โ€” including experiential learning, the RMSOS model, and the Ladder of Youth Participation
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธStrengthen your soft skills in moderating respectful debates on sensitive and controversial topics โ€” freedom of speech, migration, political extremism โ€” and in creating safe spaces for youth-led civic expression
๐ŸซDevelop workshops ready to implement with over 100 young people in local high schools and community centres โ€” taking the learning directly back into your community after the training
๐Ÿ“‹Contribute to the creation of a shared project toolkit and dissemination strategy โ€” building lasting organisational capacity within your NGO beyond the mobility week itself
๐ŸŒParticipate in an Intercultural Night โ€” bringing typical food and drinks from your country and connecting with youth workers from Bulgaria, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Romania
๐Ÿ’ก Did You Know? The “ripple effect” model that this project is built on โ€” starting with youth worker development, moving to NGO capacity building, and finally reaching young people in local communities โ€” is one of the most evidence-based approaches to sustainable impact in non-formal education. By training 25 youth workers who then each run workshops for 100 young people, a single Erasmus+ mobility activity can ultimately reach thousands of young people across five countries. That is how systemic change actually happens.
