This ESC volunteering opportunity in Spain invites volunteers to join an agroecological cooperative farm in Catalunya, working with sustainable agriculture, biodiversity protection, and traditional seed conservation.

The project takes place at Ecomercaderet, a cooperative managing more than 20 hectares of land near Igualada (Barcelona region). Volunteers will support activities related to seed banking, forest regeneration, silvopasture systems, and environmental education while experiencing life on a working agroecological farm.
๐ About the Project
Ecomercaderet is an agroecological cooperative that combines sustainable farming, biodiversity protection, and community learning. The farm includes vegetable gardens, fruit trees, compost systems, a pine forest, grazing cows, and free-roaming chickens.

The organization also manages a traditional seed bank, preserving local plant varieties and collaborating with regional initiatives focused on agroecology and food sovereignty.
Volunteers will help improve land management systems while learning about permaculture-inspired agriculture, forest ecology, and community-based environmental education.
