This European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteering placement puts one volunteer at Precious Plastic Bremen, a non-profit circular-economy workshop in Bremen, Germany, from 5 October 2026 to 30 September 2027. Coordinated by NaturKultur e.V., the role combines environmental protection, social inclusion and hands-on recycling with content creation and communication, for someone aged 18 to 30 who wants to become a "change maker" for a plastic-free future. About Precious Plastic Bremen
Precious Plastic Bremen is a non-profit initiative and dynamic social enterprise dedicated to environmental protection, resource conservation and social inclusion. As part of the global Precious Plastic movement, the local workshop transforms plastic waste into valuable resources. The team fosters an entrepreneurial mindset and promotes democratic participation for societal transformation. Core activities include open workshop sessions where people from different backgrounds transcend language barriers, alongside educational workshops for schools and youth centres.

What You'll Do
As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to:
📱 Content creation and social media: shape the online presence (focusing on Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube) by planning, filming and editing videos and interacting with the community.
📰 Research and editorial work: prepare information on the plastic crisis and circular economy for the blog, social media and information materials.
📊 Impact documentation: support the creation of annual documentation and reporting as a central strategic public relations task.
🔨 Hands-on workshop activities: actively assist in recycling workshops and neighbourhood events, gaining authentic, practical experience with circular economy processes.
🌱 Entrepreneurship and learning: develop strategic communication skills, learn about green jobs and build an entrepreneurial mindset to act as a "change maker" for a plastic-free future.
💡 Implement your own ideas: bring in your own creative impulses, whether designing a new recycling product, launching a campaign or organising a youth format.
Living in Bremen
NaturKultur e.V. is the coordinating organisation in charge of all logistical matters. You will be accommodated in a house or flat for ESC volunteers in Gröpelingen, a very vibrant, multicultural and urban neighbourhood. It is a place of rich diversity, but also a real city environment that requires an open mind. You will have your own private room in a shared apartment with a maximum of 4 other ESC volunteers. Apartments are mixed-gender and equipped with shared kitchens, bathrooms, washing machines and Wi-Fi. The organisation values an atmosphere of awareness, mutual respect and non-discrimination, and expects volunteers to be open to living and working in a diverse community.

Financials, Transport and Insurance
As an ESC volunteer, you will receive:
💶 210 € monthly pocket money.
🍽️ 323 € monthly food and living allowance.
🩺 Health insurance.
🚌 Local public transport covered by the hosting organisation with a monthly pass.
✈️ Travel costs to and from Germany reimbursed according to ESC distance rules, normally between 211 € and 395 €.
Support and Mentoring
You will have a dedicated supervisor and mentor at Precious Plastic Bremen for weekly reflection and technical guidance, as well as an external ESC coordinator at NaturKultur e.V. and an external mentor to help you get to know the city of Bremen. You will also receive German language lessons once per week together with all volunteers, and have access to OLS, the online language learning platform.

Who Can Apply

🎬 Are interested in digital communication, social media, video editing or content creation.
🤝 Enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and are open to communicating without prejudice.
🚀 Take initiative, have a solution-oriented attitude and want to develop your own project or campaign.
🏠 Are comfortable living in a multicultural district and in mixed-gender housing.
