Have you been affected by housing insecurity, unaffordable rent, or energy poverty? This is your chance to bring that experience directly into EU policy. Generation Climate Europe and the European Commission’s Directorate General of Energy are inviting young people to a full-day youth policy session and roundtable dialogue with Commissioner Dan Jørgensen — the EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing — at the Berlaymont building in Brussels on 27 March 2026. The day includes a preparation workshop, a working session with the Commission’s Housing Task Force, and a direct policy dialogue with the Commissioner to shape the European Affordable Housing Strategy. Travel support of €170 is available for participants under 35 travelling from outside Brussels. Deadline: 17 March 2026 at 23:59 CET. Do not book travel before receiving confirmation.

Roundtable dialogue with the EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing — the culmination of the day, where youth recommendations are presented and discussed at the highest EU level.

💡 Did You Know? Housing affordability has become one of the top concerns for young Europeans — across the EU, young people aged 18–34 are significantly more likely to live in overcrowded housing or spend over 40% of their income on rent compared to older age groups. The European Affordable Housing Plan, which this dialogue directly feeds into, is the EU’s first dedicated policy response to this crisis.
