This United Nations Internship is offered by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) within the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm (BRS) Conventions Secretariat, based in Geneva, Switzerland ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ.
The internship is hosted in the Programme Resources and Oversight Unit (PROU) of the Executive Office and focuses on administrative support, programme oversight, resource mobilization, and coordination for three landmark multilateral environmental agreements addressing hazardous chemicals and wastes worldwide.

This is a full-time, in-person internship with a duration of 6 months.

๐Ÿงญ Main Duties & Responsibilities
๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Provide administrative support to the Programme Resources and Oversight Unit (PROU)
๐Ÿ“ Support Programme Oversight Group (POG) monthly meetings, including drafting and circulating minutes
โฐ Send reminders and coordinate inputs on reporting deadlines and data submissions
๐Ÿ“Š Update overview tables on funding needs and expenditure tracking
๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Maintain and update the BRS Dashboard and SharePoint records for contributions and documentation
๐Ÿ“„ Support redaction of financial and legal agreements (Donor Agreements, Exchanges of Letters)
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Support preparations for the Basel Convention Open-ended Working Group (OEWG-15) in Geneva (23โ€“26 June 2026)
๐Ÿ’ผ Assist in project proposals, grant applications, and donor funding requests
๐Ÿค Coordinate inputs across Secretariat branches and maintain document repositories
๐Ÿ“‘ Prepare briefing notes, background materials, and simple data summaries
๐Ÿ”ง Perform other tasks assigned by the Head of Unit

๐ŸŽ“ Qualifications & Profile
โœ”๏ธ Enrolled in or recently completed (within 1 year) a Bachelorโ€™s (final year), Masterโ€™s, or PhD programme
โœ”๏ธ Relevant fields: Public Administration, Political Science, International Relations, Business Administration, Data Science, or related areas
โœ”๏ธ No professional work experience required (prior internship or admin experience is an asset)
โœ”๏ธ Excellent written and verbal communication skills (meeting minutes, official documents)
โœ”๏ธ Strong organisation, time-management, and attention to detail
โœ”๏ธ Comfortable working with dashboards, financial tables, and donor documentation

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Fluency in English required
โž• Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish)
