The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), in partnership with the China Scholarship Council (CSC), invites ambitious and academically strong South African students to apply for the 2026/27 Chinese Government Scholarship โ a fully funded opportunity to pursue Bachelorโs, Masterโs, Doctoral, or Non-Degree studies in world-class Chinese universities.
This prestigious programme strengthens South AfricaโChina cooperation, supports national development priorities, and empowers future leaders through cultural exchange, research excellence, and global academic mobility.
๐ What This Scholarship Offers
The Chinese Government Scholarship provides a complete support package for South African scholars:

โ Masterโs & General Scholars: RMB 3,000

To qualify, applicants must:
๐งโ๐ Be South African citizens in good physical & mental health
๐ Have a minimum academic average of 60%
๐ฏ Meet age & qualification criteria:
โ Chinese Language (non-degree): NSC 60%, under 35
โ Bachelorโs: NSC with Bachelor Pass, under 26
โ Masterโs: Bachelorโs degree 60%, under 35
โ PhD: Masterโs degree 60%, under 40
โ General Scholar: Bachelor Pass, under 45
โ Senior Scholar: Masterโs/Associate Professor, under 50

โ HSK 3 or 4 depending on level
โ CSCA score for Bachelorโs
๐ค Under 18 applicants must provide guardian documentation.
