The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna is offering an unpaid internship within the Data, Analytics and Statistics Section (DASS) — ideal for students and recent graduates in statistics, criminology, social sciences, data science, economics, and related fields.
This internship offers a chance to directly support UN research contributing to global policy decisions, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and evidence-based crime and drug statistics.
📍 About the Internship
The internship takes place at UNODC Headquarters in Vienna, Austria within the Research and Analysis Branch (RAB).
Interns support global data collection, trend analysis, methodological development, and preparation of UN flagship reports.
You will work on:
📊 Reviewing data collection tools & methodological guidelines
📈 Analysing crime & drug trends
🗂️ Collecting data from UN databases & external sources
📝 Preparing datasets, documents, and statistical products
🌍 Supporting international workshops & expert meetings
🤝 Collaborating with UN sections, experts & partner organizations
⏳ Duration: January 2026 – July 2026
🕒 Full-time (40 hrs/week)

🎓 Who Can Apply? (Eligibility)
Applicants must meet one of the following:
✔️ Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme
✔️ Enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s programme
✔️ Recently graduated with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD
Required skills:
💻 Excel, Word, PowerPoint
💡 Knowledge of R, Python, Stata, or MS Access is an advantage
🌍 Strong interest in the UN’s mission
🤝 Ability to work in multicultural environments
📚 Academic background in:
• Social sciences
• Criminology
• Statistics

• Data science
• IT
• Mathematics
No professional experience required.
🌐 Languages
