Connect to Grow is an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange at Jezioro Gลฤbokie, Poland, from 15 to 23 November 2026. It is open to young people aged 18-30 from Poland, Portugal, Italy, Romania and Slovakia. There is no participation fee: accommodation, meals, activities and eligible travel expenses are covered by Erasmus+. At Youth Works Hub, we read the call and the full infopack, and this guide brings every detail together in one place.
What Is Connect to Grow About?
Connect to Grow brings together young people from five European countries to address gender polarisation and build respectful, equal relationships across all genders through mixed-gender sport and non-formal dialogue. The topics of the exchange are:
โฝ Sport
โ๏ธ Gender equality
๐งฉ Stereotypes
๐ฅ Teamwork
๐ Intercultural dialogue
๐ Korfball
The activities combine learning, sharing experiences, developing new skills and building friendships through workshops, group activities and intercultural learning. If this format is new to you, our guide explains what an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange is and how it works.
The Challenge Behind the Project
Across Europe, young people are facing a growing "boys vs. girls" climate and rising gender polarisation. Online algorithms, social media narratives and societal stereotypes increasingly fuel hostility, misunderstanding and emotional distance between young women and young men.
Why the Project Was Created
Many young people carry distrust, often amplified by personal experiences of online hate, bullying or toxic relationships, which create deep-seated distrust between genders. For youth living in smaller towns or rural communities, opportunities to access safe, inclusive spaces for open dialogue and international youth activities are particularly limited. Connect to Grow was created as a response to these needs.
The Core Formula: Experiencing Equality, Not Only Discussing It
The project focuses not only on discussing equality in theory, but on experiencing the broader connection between:
๐ค Mixed-gender teamwork
๐ Equal rules
๐ Empathy
๐ฌ Respectful dialogue
๐ง Psychological safety
What the Project Does Not Do
The project does not aim to blame, debate aggressively or force personal disclosures. Through korfball, structured dialogue and reflection, participants learn to question generalisations, respect personal boundaries and build connections across genders and cultures.
What Will Happen During the Exchange?
During the exchange, participants will:
๐ Practise mixed-gender teamwork and equal rules through korfball and cooperative team games
๐ Analyse gender stereotypes, "gender myths" and polarising social media narratives
๐ Explore perspective-taking through voluntary role-reversal exercises
๐๏ธ Master conflict management, active listening, de-escalation and boundary-setting
๐ก๏ธ Experience a safe, trauma-aware space with flexible on-field and off-field roles
๐งฐ Co-create a practical toolkit featuring korfball-based equality games and dialogue formats
๐ค Deliver a youth-led public conference (on-site and online) on gender balance through sport
๐๏ธ Host an exhibition korfball match open to the local community
๐๏ธ Plan and execute local follow-up activities in their home communities
Young people are not passive participants in the project. They are expected to co-create sessions, facilitate activities, reflect on their learning and share full responsibility for the learning process. This is the heart of non-formal education, the learning approach used in Erasmus+ projects.
Six Main Objectives
1๏ธโฃ Challenge gender stereotypes and polarising narratives
2๏ธโฃ Strengthen trust through mixed-gender teamwork
3๏ธโฃ Practise respectful communication, consent and boundaries
4๏ธโฃ Foster an inclusive and trauma-aware learning space
5๏ธโฃ Empower youth leadership and civic voice
6๏ธโฃ Co-create reusable tools for equality through sport
What Will You Learn?
๐ฐ Gender Equality in Action: understand equal rules, shared scoring and non-contact mixed-gender teamwork through korfball
๐ฑ Stereotypes and Media Literacy: identify how "boys vs. girls" myths, online hate and polarising social media algorithms shape attitudes
๐ Perspective-Taking and Empathy: build genuine empathy through voluntary role-reversal ("in the other gender's shoes") and safe story sharing
๐ Respectful Communication and Boundaries: master active listening, "I-statements", de-escalation and clear consent/boundary-setting
๐ ๏ธ Toolkit and Facilitation Skills: co-create reusable equality games, session plans and safety notes for youth work
๐๏ธ Leadership and Public Voice: gain hands-on event management and speaking skills by co-hosting a hybrid public conference and an exhibition match
๐ฃ๏ธ Breaking Language Barriers: build confidence communicating and collaborating in English within a supportive European peer group
Who Can Apply?
๐ Age and countries: young people aged 18-30 from Poland, Portugal, Italy, Romania and Slovakia

๐ฑ Fewer opportunities: strong focus on youth from smaller towns or rural areas, as well as those experiencing gender polarisation, online hostility, bullying or economic/social obstacles
