🇵🇹 ESC Volunteering in Portugal 🗳️ Citizenship Lab and Youth Communication at a Youth Association 📱

Description

Rota Jovem is a non-profit Youth Association, located in Cascais, which promotes and runs national and international youth activities for young people since 1992. Our secret is to be an open door for new projects, promoting an opportunity for youth to implement their projects and dreams with the support of an experienced and enthusiastic team. We have been working on the promotion of Non-Formal Education. The volunteer will: - Support the daily work at a youth association’s office headquarters; - Public information sessions regarding international mobility opportunities – at schools, universities, online, within local partners, etc.; - Integration in Rota Jovem projects (pontual or residencial) with youngsters (example: Human Rights Education sessions; workshops; local trainings; meetings with local organisations); - Besides these activities, Rota Jovem is also open to support volunteers’ ideas and personal projects inside the association during the volunteering period.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be living in a shared apartment in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and has to be ready to share a room with another volunteer, if needed. The kitchen and bathroom will be shared with other people. The hosting organization will provide a food allowance (covering also the holiday period) to the volunteer, a daily allowance for pocket money and a public transportation monthly card. They will be paid monthly (accordingly) during the first five days of each month.

Training during the activity

Rota Jovem will ensure the participation of the volunteer: - in the on arrival training at Rota Jovem (reflection about expectations and objectives) - in a specific training inside the association to implement the tasks; - in the on-arrival training and mid-term evaluation organised by the NA, - in a language course, - other training opportunities at local/national level.

Participant profile

- Interest and motivation for the themes of youth participation, global citizenship and associativism; - Interest and motivation for the practices and values inherent to Non Formal Education and Education for Global Citizenship; - Enthusiasm and motivation to integrate this specific project, which requires flexibility, public speaking, communication with other young people, dynamism and creativity (although these characteristics are valued, we consider that they will be developed throughout the project, with continuous support from the mentor and tutor) - Motivation to learn; - Interest, motivation and some experience with communication, namely content creation, social media management (website, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and others) and the promotion of the project’s activities and results, with a willingness to develop these skills throughout the project, with continuous support.
