Description
ActionAid Spain aims to achieve an active citizenship that fights against inequalities and promotes human rights. Through cooperation, humanitarian action and advocacy, we work for gender justice, migrants’ rights and climate justice. Join us at our headquarters in Madrid and become part of our Humanitarian Programmes team. You will support the economic and financial management of humanitarian aid projects, helping to organise and review financial documentation, monitor project budgets and systematise financial information. You will also contribute to the preparation of financial reports, audits and donor compliance processes, while collaborating with field teams and partner organisations. In this experience, you will gain practical knowledge of humanitarian project finance, budget monitoring, financial reporting and donor accountability, while developing strong skills in Excel, data management, organisation, teamwork and attention to detail in an international working environment.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will have the opportunity to live together with other volunteers of different nationalities in a shared flat. The accommodation costs and utility bills will be covered by the hosting organization and free Wi-fi will be provided. You will receive a monthly pocket money for your personal expenses and food and local transport allowance each month, you will also have a health insurance (Henner).
Training during the activity
The volunteer will receive training on: ActionAid, ESC, Youthpass, Henner, cultural immersion, etc. In addition, you will participate in two Spanish National Agency trainings together with other international volunteers in Spain. In case language support is needed, the volunteer will have free access to online language training. Also, you will be trained in humanitarian project financial management, donor requirements, budget monitoring, financial reporting, audits, documentation review and the digital tools used by the team, as well as coordination with field teams and partner organisations.
Participant profile
The volunteer should be a motivated and organised person, interested in international cooperation and humanitarian aid, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills in project financial management. We are looking for someone with attention to detail, responsibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Studies in International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid, International Relations, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Social Sciences or related fields will be considered an asset. Previous academic, professional or volunteer experience related to international cooperation, humanitarian aid, project management, administration or financial management is desirable. Basic knowledge of office tools, especially Excel, is an advantage. Sufficient English and Spanish to function in the working environment is required, while knowledge of French will be considered an asset.
