Description
ActionAid Spain aims to achieve an active citizenship that fights against inequalities and promotes human rights. Through cooperation, humanitarian action and advocacy, we work for gender justice, migrants’ rights and climate justice. Join us at our headquarters in Madrid and become part of our Compliance team. You will support the review and harmonisation of organisational policies, the development of contract templates and integrity clauses, the monitoring of donor and regulatory requirements, risk management and due diligence processes, and the preparation of documentation for quality certifications and transparency standards. You will also contribute to document management, SharePoint organisation and administrative support related to safeguarding and protection. Throughout this experience, you will gain practical knowledge of compliance in the non-profit sector, risk management, donor accountability, organisational governance and international NGO standards
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will have the opportunity to live together with other volunteers of different nationalities in a shared flat. The accommodation costs and utility bills will be covered by the hosting organization and free Wi-fi will be provided. You will receive a monthly pocket money for your personal expenses and food and local transport allowance each month, you will also have a health insurance (Henner).
Training during the activity
The volunteer will receive training on: ActionAid, ESC, Youthpass, Henner, cultural immersion, etc. In addition, you will participate in two Spanish National Agency trainings together with other international volunteers in Spain. In case language support is needed, the volunteer will have free access to online language training. Also, you will be trained in the Compliance and Institutional Integrity Department. Specific training on SHEA and Protection, the code of conduct, and the confidentiality protocol. Introduction to the whistleblower channel and its case management protocol used by AA.
Participant profile
The volunteer should be a motivated and proactive person, eager to learn and interested in compliance, organisational governance, transparency and international cooperation. We are looking for someone who is able to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality. Studies in Law, Economics, Business Administration, International Relations, Development Cooperation or related fields are desirable. Previous experience in NGOs, international cooperation or humanitarian action (including volunteering, internships or traineeships) will be an asset, as well as knowledge of project management, institutional donor requirements, Excel, Power BI, data analysis or AI tools. A high level of English and Spanish is required, while knowledge of French is an advantage. Motivation and willingness to learn are valued above previous professional experience.
