Fundacja FREE (Foundation for the Development of Empathetic Education) is all about reimagining learning through empathy, creativity, and connection! We support children and youth—including those with special educational needs and disabilities—to grow at their own pace in a warm, welcoming space where peers learn together, explore, and simply have fun.
We champion homeschooling by bringing teachers, therapists, parents, and youth together. Instead of rigid schooling, we focus on hands-on activities, creative workshops, specialist support, and discovering individual passions.
As a vibrant hub for European solidarity, intercultural exchange, and non-formal education, we believe volunteering is about real human connection and social inclusion. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will stay in a university dorm in shared 3-person rooms, we provide basic kitchen equipment. You receive 700 PLN/month for food allowance and 6 EUR/day pocket money (~180 EUR/month). Travel costs are reimbursed within EU limits. Health insurance, work equipment, and mentor support are fully provided. Schedule: ~6h/day, 5 days/week.
Training during the activity
During the project you will take part in training courses organized by the National Agency where you will meet volunteers from all over Poland. Besides that you will receive regular trainings in our NGO.
Participant profile
We're looking for someone engaged, open minded, and genuinely motivated to work with and support children. You don't need to be an expert; what matters most is your willingness to show initiative, contribute your own ideas, and bring energy to our activities. A communicative level of English is required, and knowledge of other European languages is a big plus, as our groups often include children with diverse linguistic backgrounds. Patience, flexibility and a friendly, approachable attitude will also go a long way, as will comfort working with small groups of children of different ages (children 7- 15 years old).
What we do in FREE?
Fundacja FREE runs a range of educational and social activities for children in home education, working with them along with their parents in small groups of up to 8 children at a time. Our children have varied needs: some are looking for structured academic support, others for space to socialise, be creative, or simply spend time with peers in a relaxed setting outside the home schooling routine. Our programmes are designed to be flexible enough to meet all of these needs, combining structured learning with free play, creative projects, and community building.
What a volunteer might do:
Core tasks
• supporting children during thematic workshops (helping with tasks and activities) and supporting eduacators (preparing rooms and materials)
• leading activities during “świetlica” (after-school/common room) time, with a educator present
• having one-to-one conversations with children in you mother tounge-language
• helping organise events and be a part of it
Optional tasks, depending on your interests and skills:
• designing and leading your own activities with the children
• sharing and promoting the culture and language of your own country
• helping with office tasks such as photocopying and using other equipment
• creating promotional materials and social media content • helping arrange and organise spaces for children
