InterAktion (Verein für ein interkulturelles Zusammenleben, Austria) and Association Humanost (North Macedonia) are inviting youth workers and leaders to "Mov(i)e yourself!", an outdoor Training Course in National Park Galichica, North Macedonia. From 17 to 23 October 2026, youth workers and leaders from different countries will gather in the park with a focus on non-formal outdoor education, mental and physical well-being, and youth empowerment, using nature as a tool for youth work. This is not a competitive sports event, but an experiential learning journey: together the group will explore historic Ohrid through team challenges, stay at the Spiridon Mountain Hut in Galičica National Park, learn from park experts and mountain rescue teams, hike to Lake Prespa viewpoints, ascend Peak Magaro (2254m) with an eco-action, and create digital video outputs of the experience. Evenings are reserved for intercultural nights to share traditions, stories, and local treats. Mountain activities may slightly adjust based on weather conditions.

Who Is Involved

The project is coordinated by InterAktion, an Austrian association for intercultural coexistence, together with Association Humanost, a non-governmental humanitarian organization in North Macedonia. The evening programme is mainly reserved for getting to know each other and meeting youth workers from different countries; participants are invited to share a favourite song, dance, or hiking or cycling story from their country, present their home, and bring favourite snacks specific to their country to share with the others.


Venue and Accommodation

Activities and accommodation are hosted in Galičica National Park in Ohrid, with one night in the city of Ohrid, at the Mountain Hut Spiridon. Participants are accommodated in mixed rooms, and to fully connect with the nature-based methodologies of the project, one night will be spent outdoor camping in tents on Galičica (optional). Activities and meals take place at the same venue, and the group lives as a self-organized community, taking care of the facility and common areas together, with a host group assigned each day and everyone responsible for keeping the place tidy. Ohrid and Lake Ohrid are UNESCO Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites; the city has around 38,000 inhabitants and was once known for having 365 churches, one for each day of the year, earning it the nickname "Jerusalem of the Balkans". October temperatures can go low at night with possible rain, so warm clothing, a waterproof jacket and hiking shoes are essential.

Who Can Apply

The training course is open to youth workers aged 18 and over from the following countries: 🇦🇹 Austria, 🇭🇷 Croatia, 🇨🇿 Czechia, 🇩🇪 Germany, 🇭🇺 Hungary, 🇮🇹 Italy, 🇲🇰 North Macedonia, 🇷🇸 Serbia, 🇸🇮 Slovenia and 🇸🇪 Sweden. Possession of a European Health Insurance Card, or travel insurance if your country is not a member of the EU, is a must, and participants should bring their own medicine in case they need it.


What's Covered

Participation is covered through the Erasmus+ programme: accommodation, food and the programme activities are covered, and travel costs are reimbursed depending on the country you are coming from, according to the Erasmus+ distance band and lump sums, up to and only the real costs (no first-class tickets). Only actual costs, as stated with travel documents, will be reimbursed, within 4 weeks after the project via bank transfer. Travel insurance is strongly recommended for those who do not have an EU health insurance card and can be calculated as part of the travel costs. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffee breaks at the venue are provided by InterAktion; participants should bear in mind that prices for drinks can be higher than in their home country.

How to Apply

Complete the online application form. The closest airports are Ohrid, Skopje and Tirana; a shuttle is organised for those arriving in Skopje to travel to Ohrid, and from Tirana participants can check schedules to Struga, 10 km from Ohrid. Travel by private car counts as green only if at least two people share the ride, and secure parking is provided at each accommodation.
