ECA's mission is to deliver ideas and actions for an empowered and transformed Africa, informed by the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063. The ECA Office for North Africa is located in Rabat, Morocco, and serves seven member states: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan, and Tunisia. Its main objective is to contribute to achieving structural transformation and balanced development through sound macroeconomic policies, financing for development and debt management, regional integration, economic diversification, industrialization, and climate change resilience. The office pays special attention to challenges specific to middle income countries and policies that can help them spur inclusive economic growth, competitiveness and diversification. The internship will be undertaken under the direct supervision of the Communication Officer and the overall guidance of the Director of the Sub-regional Office for North Africa, based in Rabat, and/or the Head of the Communication division of the ECA, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


Position Details

๐Ÿ“ Work location: this internship is designed to be in person, at the ECA Office for North Africa in Rabat, Morocco, but can be remote or partly remote based on the approval of the supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Communication Officer, the selected intern will undertake the following assignments and support the accomplishment of the related tasks, including generating related write-ups and story lines:

๐Ÿ“ฐ Participate in media and communications related preparations and research for events organized and covered by the ECA sub-regional office for North Africa

๐Ÿ“ก Assist in monitoring media reports (local and international) of ECA events and draft coverage reports

๐Ÿ“ Assist with the coverage of ECA events by contributing to note taking for communication purposes, press releases and social media

๐ŸŽจ Assist with the design of visuals (posters, postcards) and video and social media content where applicable

๐Ÿ“ž Assist with the handling of media inquiries including interview requests

๐ŸŒ Assist with the translation of media content where applicable, and assist the Communication Officer with other ad-hoc activities as instructed

Qualifications and Skills

To qualify for an internship, the following condition must be met: be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). A good knowledge of the North African culture and socio-economic context is an advantage. Internships do not require work experience.


Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in French is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of English and Arabic is desirable.
