The Job
Reporting to the Associate Director for National Legal Strategies, Europe, the Advocacy Adviser is responsible for developing and implementing advocacy strategies to advance and protect reproductive rights in Europe, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe, and works closely with other Europe program staff to ensure alignment with the regional Work Plan and the Center's Strategic Plan. This position will be based remotely in Germany, Poland, Romania, or Brussels (Belgium).
Primary Responsibilities
๐น Support development and implementation of advocacy, litigation and communication strategies and activities at national, regional, and international levels relevant to advancing legal and policy reform on thematic reproductive rights priorities and defending against regression in relevant focus countries, in particular in Central and Eastern Europe
๐น Monitor legal and policy developments on sexual and reproductive rights issues in Europe, with particular focus on Central and Eastern Europe
๐น Undertake legal and policy research and analysis of national laws and policies and international human rights law and standards to inform advocacy priorities
๐น Develop and strengthen national-level partnerships with civil society organizations, policy makers and other key stakeholders in agreed focus countries
๐น Deliver high quality programmatic outputs for regional, country, and thematic priorities, including drafting advocacy materials, submissions, briefing notes, and other written outputs
๐น Design and deliver presentations, training modules and capacity building initiatives
๐น Organize convenings, workshops, and other events and assist with preparation of presentations for conferences and meetings
๐น Represent the Center externally on matters related to reproductive rights in Europe through public speaking and engagement with media
๐น Partner with the Associate Director for National Legal Strategies to develop and implement the regional Work Plan, and support other institutional processes as requested
๐น Support fundraising strategies, including through research and drafting materials, as requested

Requirements
๐ Master's degree in law, human rights, political science, public policy or a related field
๐ Minimum of 8 years of work experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, human rights, or related social justice field
๐ Strong background in international and European human rights law, standards, and systems. Experience conducting advocacy before international and regional human rights mechanisms or with EU institutions and processes is desirable
๐ Experience in national-level advocacy and legal or policy reform strategies in Europe, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe, and in collaborating with NGOs and other civil society actors
๐ Strong commitment to the Center's mission, purpose, and values
๐ Fluency in written and spoken English and at least one other European language, ideally a language from Central or Eastern Europe
๐ Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong research and analytical skills, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
๐ Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, in a multicultural, diverse, and performance-driven environment
๐ Ability to travel for work
