๐๏ธ About the Unit and the Project
The Development Economics Vice Presidency (DEC) seeks to increase understanding of development policies and programs by providing intellectual leadership and analytical services to the World Bank Group and the development community, and it is the research and data arm of the World Bank Group.
The Business Ready (B-READY) project provides a quantitative assessment of the business environment for private sector development, published with annual frequency and covering most economies worldwide. Topics covered by the B-READY report include business entry, business location, utility services, labor, financial services, international trade, taxation, dispute resolution, market competition and business insolvency. The B-READY data and summary report aim to advocate for policy reform, inform specific policy advice and provide data for development policy research, and through its focus on private sector development, B-READY contributes to meeting the World Bank Group's twin goals of eliminating poverty and boosting shared prosperity.

๐ Duties and Responsibilities
๐ Assist with topic literature review and relevant legal research on topic-specific laws and regulations
๐ Assist with administering the assigned topic questionnaires to external experts under the guidance of experienced team members
๐พ Assist with downloading, preparing and merging raw Stata datasets for data analysis
๐ Support topic teams' data validation efforts by conducting preliminary comparison of experts' responses against each other and against other sources of information, as per B-READY internal protocols
๐ Help with building and maintaining an assigned set of indicators for a specified subset of countries
๐ฃ Support the team with dissemination of the report findings through presentations, blogs, infographics and other knowledge products
๐ Follow all the applicable B-READY protocols outlined in the B-READY Manual and Guide
๐๏ธ Provide general support to the project as required, related to communications, report writing and analytics
โ Selection Criteria
๐ Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or in the final year of, a postgraduate master's or PhD program
๐ผ 1 to 6 years of relevant professional experience
๐ฃ๏ธ Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential, and professional fluency in one or more of Arabic, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish or Chinese is preferred, with language skills indicated in CVs tested during the interviews
๐ป Excellent command of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and experience in data analysis using Stata, R, Python or other statistical software is a plus
๐ Ability to operate in a multicultural environment and build effective working relations with local and external counterparts, with well-developed interpersonal and team building skills

โ ๏ธ No-Fee Internship Eligibility
This position is offered under the WBG Pioneers No-Fee Internship Track. Students may be offered a no-fee short term temporary appointment provided that they either are enrolled in a master's, PhD or similar graduate program during the entire internship, or are in the fifth year or higher of a degree program in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, and provide an official letter from their university confirming that the internship fulfills academic requirements for at least one term of study, or are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies and receive a stipend from their university at least equivalent to the minimum short term temporary T1 fee level in effect at the start of the assignment, as confirmed by an official university letter.
