About the Role

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of the Peacebuilding Commission Support Branch (PBCSB), the intern supports the work of the branch across research, coordination and administrative functions.

What You'll Do

๐Ÿ”Ž Research, compile and summarize background materials for use in the preparation of meetings, reports and summaries.

๐ŸŽช Assist in the coordination of service-wide activities, special projects and events.

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Support the management and development of internal databases, update the website, and generate a variety of standard and non-standard statistical and other reports from various databases.

๐Ÿ“Š Assist in the preparation of presentation materials using appropriate technology and software.

๐Ÿ“‹ Perform a variety of administrative duties and other functions as requested.

Who Can Apply

๐ŸŽ“ Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).

๐Ÿ“˜ Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).

Applicants who have previously served six months as a UN intern, or who are children, siblings or children-in-law of an active UN Common System staff member, cannot be engaged. Languages

Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset.

The Details

๐Ÿ“ Location: New York, United States. Work location is flexible (hybrid, all remote, or in person).

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Expected duration: 6 months, either full time (35 hours per week) or part time (20 hours per week). Desired start date 5 August 2026 or sooner.

๐Ÿ’ผ The internship is unpaid. The UN does not remunerate interns; travel, visas, accommodation and living costs are the responsibility of interns or sponsors. For internships in the United States, interns who are not US citizens, permanent residents or already on a suitable non-immigrant visa will be required to obtain a G-4 visa.
