Do you want to bring the work of the United Nations closer to the people it serves? The United Nations Information Centre in Manama (UNIC Manama) is offering a Public Information Internship within the Information Centres Service of the Department of Global Communications.

About UNIC Manama

UNIC Manama is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in Bahrain and provides strategic communications services to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. It promotes public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by communicating the work of the UN to a local audience in local languages, engaging local and regional partners, and bringing the United Nations closer to the peoples it serves. The intern works under the direct supervision of the Director, UNIC Manama.

What You'll Do

🖋️ Assist in content creation for the UNIC's online platforms, including social media accounts.

📲 Assist in monitoring and moderating the UNIC's online platforms and in implementing social media campaigns.

🎨 Assist in the design, production and dissemination of information material.

🎪 Assist in the organization of events and meetings.

📰 Assist in preparing media monitoring reports.

🌐 Assist in translation support.

Who Can Apply

🎓 Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).

📘 Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

Computer literacy in standard software applications, a demonstrated interest in the work of the UN and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter, and the ability to interact with people of different cultural backgrounds are required. No working experience is required; proof of eligibility must be provided.

Languages

Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic is required.

The Details

📍 Location: UNIC Manama, Bahrain. Hybrid (in person or remote), up to 34 hours per week.

🗓️ Expected duration: 3 to 6 months maximum, depending on availability and departmental needs.

💼 Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Travel, visas, accommodation and living costs are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
