About the Organisation

The IAEA accepts a limited number of interns each year to gain practical work experience in line with their studies and to benefit the IAEA's programmes. The Division of IAEA Marine Environment Laboratories (NAML) uses nuclear and isotopic techniques to understand and mitigate environmental impacts on the marine environment. The Radioecology Laboratory in Monaco addresses coastal and marine ecological challenges, including ocean acidification, carbon cycling, and seafood safety, and hosts the Ocean Acidification International Coordination Centre (OA-ICC).

About the Internship

Based at the Radioecology Laboratory in Monaco, the intern works with the OA-ICC team to organise and implement upcoming activities and events, update resources, and draft communication material. The intern also helps support the Secretariat of the Global Ocean Acidification Observing Network (GOA-ON), in close collaboration with IOC-UNESCO and the NOAA Ocean Acidification programme.

Your Tasks

๐ŸŒŠ Work with the OA-ICC team to deliver the Centre's annual work plan, including expert meetings, capacity building, and outreach

โœ๏ธ Assist in communication activities (reports, web stories, newsletters, social media)

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Help maintain and update OA-ICC online resources (news stream, databases)

๐Ÿค Help support the Secretariat of the Global Ocean Acidification Observing Network (GOA-ON), including quarterly Executive Council meetings and regional hubs

๐Ÿ“Š Contribute to exploring potential non-traditional funders, and develop a survey to collect baseline data for Key Performance Indicators

Who Can Apply

๐ŸŽ“ A university degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Sciences, Radioecology, Ecology, or a related field, with good background knowledge of climate and environmental change and ocean acidification

๐ŸŽ‚ At least 20 years old, having completed at least three years of full-time study, and applying up to one year after completing a degree, without previous IAEA internship participation

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Good written and spoken English is essential; another IAEA official language is an asset

๐Ÿ“„ Two signed letters of recommendation must be attached to the application
