About the Role
This internship is in the Emerging Issues and Trends in Development Section, Division for Inclusive Social Development (DISD), Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA). The section identifies, monitors, and analyses emerging social trends and provides strategic recommendations to inform intergovernmental processes and UN action, focusing on the eradication of poverty, the reduction of inequality, the promotion of social inclusion, and decent work for all. Its main output is the World Social Report. The intern works under the supervision of the Associate Social Affairs Officer.
Responsibilities
๐ Undertake literature reviews on relevant social development issues
๐ Draft analytical inputs and syntheses of relevant materials
๐ Assist with data collection, analysis, and data visualisation
๐ช Assist in organising meetings and events, including contributing to background documents, notes, and summaries
Who Can Apply
๐ Enrolled in, or having completed, a graduate programme, or in the final academic year of a first university degree, in a closely related field
๐ A strong research background, good analytical and drafting skills, and a demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations
๐ฃ๏ธ Fluency in spoken and written English is required; another UN official language is an advantage
