Description
ICJA is a non-profit organisation that sends German volunteers abroad and hosts international volunteers in Germany for one year. ICJAโs aim is to facilitate respectful and open interactions between people from different cultures and religious backgrounds and understands its exchange program as an educational opportunity. It promotes intercultural exchange, mutual learning, and cooperation, and is part of the ICYE Federation, with its main office in Berlin. The volunteer position would be in ESC sending and humanitarian aid assistance. The volunteer mainly supports in the administration; the preparation and coordination of ESC volunteers: Tasks include administrative work, assisting in the application process, communicating with applicants, translating documents, and helping to prepare project descriptions and publish opportunities. There is also the chance to support online seminars, organize meetings, and develop own project ideas.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will receive food fee (345 Euro/month), pocket money (7โฌ per day) and travel money (Deutschland Ticket). The volunteer will receive a financial support to the travel costs from their place of origin to Germany and back, the amount depends on the distance travelled. They will also receive health insurance. Because of the housing shortage in Berlin, it is very difficult for us to find a room for the volunteer. For this reason, it is very important that you are flexible about the accommodation: The volunteer is going to live in a shared flat.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will take part in the mandatory ESC trainings (On Arrival and Mid Term Training).
Participant profile
The volunteer should have very good German skills (B2/C1) and good English (B1/B2โC1), as well as an interest in administrative work and intercultural or global learning topics. Openness, motivation, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and in a team are important. Applicants should be willing to take responsibility, contribute their own skills and interests, and actively participate in activities such as seminars. Basic knowledge of Office programmes (especially Outlook, Word, and Excel) and an interest in international youth exchange and volunteering are also expected.
