Description

As aves marinhas são afetadas pela poluição luminosa e precisamos de apoio para mitigar e entender melhor o modo como a luz artificial impacta este grupo de aves. Todos os anos realizam-se campanhas de resgate na época crítica para os juvenis de cagarro (ave marinha mais abundante dos Açores). O trabalho é desenvolvido na ilha de São Miguel e consiste na participação nas campanhas de resgate científicas de aves marinhas. Este será essencialmente trabalho de campo noturno, focando no resgate de aves marinhas em brigadas de patrulhamento, bem como assistência na libertação destas aves. Parte do trabalho de campo é noturno devido à hora de atividade das aves marinhas. A carga horária diária é variável, pois está dependente do número de aves resgatadas, não ultrapassando as 7h diárias. Estas atividades decorrem no âmbito do projeto LIFE Natura@night, coordenado pela SPEA Madeira (www.naturaatnight.spea.pt).



Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Esta oportunidade de voluntariado, com duração de dois meses, decorre na ilha de São Miguel, Açores (Portugal). O programa ESC cobre as despesas de viagem entre a área de residência do voluntário e o local de alojamento, no início e no fim do período de voluntariado. O valor é calculado com base na distância, segundo o calculador ESC. Transporte, alojamento e alimentação são cobertos pelo projeto, até um máximo de 27€/dia. O voluntário recebe ainda um apoio financeiro adicional de 6€/dia para despesas pessoais. O transporte para o trabalho de campo é assegurado pela SPEA.


Training during the activity

A aprendizagem será contínua e bastante variada ao longo de todo o período de voluntariado. O voluntário terá a oportunidade de estar inserido no desenvolvimento de um projeto LIFE em Biologia da Conservação. Poderá enriquecer o seu conhecimento em aves marinhas, e em metodologias de monitorização de aves marinhas. Para além das competências acima mencionadas também é esperado que o voluntário desenvolva a capacidade de trabalhar de forma organizada tanto independentemente como em equipa.
