Description

Servicio Jesuita para Migrantes Costa Rica (SJM-CR), which supports migrant populations arriving in Costa Rica is seeking support in project management, social and policy advocacy, and training for migrants and refugee population. Main responsibilities: - Management and monitoring: support in designing a MEAL system, reviewing logical frameworks, theories of change, operational plans, and drafting project proposals. - Resource mobilization: mapping donors, cooperation agencies, and strategic partners to ensure sustainability. - Policy advocacy: developing technical materials (briefs, infographics, position papers) and supporting dialogue with various key stakeholders. - Training and innovation: facilitating workshops focused on DESCA rights and the use of artificial intelligence tools applied to projects implemented by civil society organisations. Commitment: 40 hours per week. Work primarily in San José, with the option of 1 day of remote work per internal policy.

Training during the activity

- Face-to-face training before volunteering in Bilbao, Spain - Training programs offered by the host organisation - European training platforms available to volunteers: OLS (Online Language Support); GOT (General Online Training), SALTO - During the volunteer experience, participants will develop a range of transferable skills (time management, independence, intercultural awareness and competence, teamwork, active listening and dialogue, a volunteer mindset, problem-solving, advocacy skills, etc.) - All skills acquired will be certified through the Youth Pass

Participant profile

Preferably a professional or student in the Social Sciences, project management, development cooperation, communication, or related fields (International Relations, International Cooperation, Political Science, Sociology, Migrations, etc.) Candidates from other fields with experience working with migrant and refugee populations or in non-profit organisations will also be considered. Profile: technical project management skills, international cooperation, writing, context and risk analysis, knowledge of technological tools, and intercultural competencies. Volunteers will support the core team, with technical guidance and supervision from the National Directorate. Desirable: a basic level of Spanish sufficient to function independently in daily tasks. Transferable skills: - Ability to adapt to changing and multicultural environments.. - Active listening and sensitivity to situations of vulnerability. - Autonomy in organising work and meeting deadlines.. - Analytical thinking and the ability to synthesise information. - Teamwork and a willingness to coordinate with various key stakeholders. - Commitment to the values of social justice, human dignity, interculturalism, and a gender- and rights-based approach. - Openness to learning and ongoing feedback. Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training, and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
